Mens Long Hair – A Fun Guide to Growing Healthy Long Hair :: Simple Reviews

Posted on September 3, 2015 in Long

I woke up to the frightening sound of my alarm at 7:00 a.m. only to be unpleasantly surprised by a disturbing but common occurrence with men’s long hair. A lock of my tangled curly mop had crusted itself to the side of my mouth while another stray hair had found its way into my unsuspecting eye. One might ask, “Why do I willfully subject myself to these burdens day in and day out?” I’ll tell you why. Having long hair is wicked cool! There are women out there who LOVE long hair, and even though it may at times be grounds for social discrimination, a large majority of people will respect you for it because you have exercised your creative license and taken a step into the bold.

Once you’ve made sure long hair is what you want, there are a set of simple rules to follow to get you started on your idiot proof journey to long hair. First you must identify your hair type. There are scores of hair types but yours will likely fall under one of these four categories: straight, wavy, frizzy, or curly. If you can’t figure out what hair type you have, ask your resident hair aficionado or your mother. This next step is the most important in the process. Don’t cut your hair! “But wait” you ask, “Shouldn’t I be regularly trimming my hair for split ends and unevenness?” This is entirely up to you. On average your hair will grow six inches each year, so if you decide to have it trimmed you might be delaying your long-haired glory by quite some time. Everyone has a different threshold for dealing with ugly split ends but I’d recommend just ignoring them for a while if you really want to bang this out.

When you’re finally comfortable with what seems like a never-ending bad hair phase you need begin thinking seriously about hygiene. Most men have an innate disposition to neglect their hair in every way possible, but if you’re going to get the long hair you’ve imagined, it’s going to require the development of some positive hair maintenance habits. Keep your hair clean, but know that there is such a thing as too clean. The key in growing strong healthy hair is in retaining your hairs natural oils. Just because you have more hair does not give license to throwing gobs of shampoo and conditioner at it. You may have already found that the overuse of any hair product can have detrimental effects on the health of your hair.

If you’re having trouble dealing with the side effects of using regular shampoo give organic shampoo a try. An organic shampoo will contain far less sodium lauryl sulfate and will generally foster hair growth and a healthy scalp. Also, remember that conditioner is not optional! Without it, there’s a good chance you’ll be waving goodbye to the lady folk.

As your hair grows, its type will become increasingly important. Straight and wavy types are easily maintained while frizzing and curly hair types often pose difficulties. If your hair falls under one of the troublesome types, you’ll have to spend more time brushing. Brush often to avoid tangles and stubborn knots. I highly recommend brushing your hair while it’s still wet because water will temporarily give your curly or frizzy hair some of the properties of straight hair.

You’ll find that as your hair grows to medium length and longer there becomes a need to keep your hair tied back and out of the way. One of the trials of having long hair, which I know all too well, is keeping it out of your face and mouth. While sleeping this is inevitable but during waking hours there are plenty of ways to combat this problem. The easiest options are ponytails, bandanas, and hats, but feel free to get creative! Ways not to restrain your hair are: buns, pigtails, or anything involving clips. YOU ARE A MAN and you should wield your hair as a testament to your manhood!

There you have it, a surefire way to full-blown, ridiculously good looking, mens long hair. Be patient. Hair takes time to grow, and until it gets down to your shoulders it may look awkward, but just think how bad ass it’ll look when it’s all said and done!

Do You Lose More Hair When It’s Longer? :: Simple Reviews

Posted on October 11, 2015 in Long

I recently heard from a young woman who had been shedding a high amount of hair for about eight months. She knew that this wasn’t normal and she knew that her hair was thinning out at alarming levels. However, despite her best efforts, she still couldn’t determine if her hair loss was due to issues like telogen effluvium (TE,) androgenic alopecia (AGA,) alopecia areata (AA) or other autoimmune conditions, medications or illnesses, or other issues like scalp problems or allergies.

Since she couldn’t yet determine why she was losing hair, she was having trouble coming up with a regimen that actually helped or worked. But, she was looking for anything which would help her to lose less hair on a daily basis. One idea that she came up with was cutting her long hair. She asked me, in part: “does more hair fall out when it’s longer? Would cutting my hair short mean that I would lose or shed less hair?” I will discuss this more in the following article.

Your Hair’s Weight Or Length Isn’t Usually One Of The Reasons It’s Falling Out: I asked the young woman if there was ever a time when she had long hair that wasn’t shedding or falling. She told me that she usually wears her hair long because she much prefers it. She didn’t think short hair was flattering on her and she liked putting her hair up. Even with this longer hair for most of her life, she had never had any hair loss issues before eight months ago when the shedding started.

As you probably already know, there are many potential reasons for hair loss. But your hair being too heavy is not usually one of them. (Think about it. Men with very short hair often still have thinning.) Hair usually falls out because of a hormonal or medical issue or because the follicle itself has gone into the resting phase. Now, there is a condition called traction alopecia where hair can be pulled out when it is pulled very tightly for long periods of time. This sometimes happens when hair is put in corn rows or someone wears a weave pulled tightly for a long period of time without taking it out. The constant pulling can pull the hair out. However hair being pulled out is different than it being shed out or it falling out.

And, if you can remember back to a time before your hair loss started, you can probably remember a time when you brushed or styled your hair quite vigorously and never noticed too much coming out as the result. In other words, people who have normal hair and normal scalps where the follicles are healthy and getting adequately nourished don’t have to worry about manipulating their hair. They wash it, comb it, twist it, style it and put it up (and not too carefully either) without concern.

It’s usually only when your hair comes out for another reason do you begin to question things like styling or cleaning as a contributing factor.

Should You Cut Your Long Hair Short When It’s Shedding?: This is an individual choice. And, there’s no question that people have told me that they have noticed less hair fall when their hair was short. I don’t doubt this. Short strands aren’t as noticeable on your clothing or on your floor as long strands are. And, just a handful of long strands can look like a huge wad in your drain when the same amount of short hairs would likely go right down that same drain so that you would never see it.

In other words, short strands are fair less noticeable when they fall. Also, most people have to wash their hair more when it’s short which can bring about at least a little bit of improvement if you have an androgenic issue. So, there are many reasons that folks can perceive that they are losing less shorter strands.

But at the end of the day, if you have a hair loss issue, you are likely still going to have it regardless of the length of your hair. And, any hair that was pulled out because of that same strand’s weight was in the resting phase anyway and was going to eventually come out.

So sure, having short hair may make this easier to manage. Some people find it to be a relief. But, some people find it makes their hair look more thin. And unfortunately, I honestly don’t believe that having short hair spares you any shedding or loss. So, cutting your hair should come down to which type of styles you prefer rather than attempting to stop the loss.

Moroccan Oil Products For Long Hair :: Simple Reviews

Posted on September 30, 2015 in Long

Long hair usually means more time preparing to go to work, or out for the evening, so Moroccan Oil gives you a wide range of products that will keep your long hair silky, and get rid of frizz. These products maintain the shine and healthiness of your hair, and it doesn’t take much time to achieve it. Applying these products will make your hair softer, and it smooths out your hair, which makes styling easier.

When you give your hair the Moroccan Oil Treatment, it will invigorate your long hair and rehydrate it, if you have problems with dry hair. It will alleviate the frizz, and it won’t leave your hair feeling heavy or oily when you’re done.

Moroccan Oil is an excellent antioxidant for your hair. For refined and radiant hair, it can’t be beat. Use shampoo before you give your hair a Moroccan Oil Treatment, so that it will be clean and well-moisturized.

If you usually wash and then air dry your long hair, you’ll probably wonder if using Moroccan Oil hair products will make your routine longer. So give it a try – wash your hair, and then deep condition it with the Intense Hydrating Mask. You can even use it at night and then lightly wrap your hair, so that you’ll have sweet-smelling, shiny and smooth hair when you get up in the morning. Moroccan Oil Intense Hydrating Mask comes in a large size container if you tend to use a lot of product on your hair.

Moroccan Oil Moisture Repair Shampoo is especially made for long and chemically or color-treated hair. It will aid in restoring damaged hair, while it moisturizes and repairs it. This shampoo is especially rich in proteins and fatty acids, and it contains keratin and Argan oil for excellent hair care. This shampoo is free of parabens and sulfate-phosphates. You will enjoy using the Moisture Repair Shampoo, because it treats your long hair very gently, and restores it to its natural good looks.

You won’t be left without help for your oily, long hair if you try Moroccan Oil Moisture Repair Conditioner. Oily hair tends to be heavier than normal or dry hair, due to the oils, and this weight can cause breakage. Tangling may occur as well, so you’ll be pleased to discover that the Moisture Repair Conditioner takes care of both of these problems.

After you condition your hair, the Moroccan Oil XLPro Paddle Brush is the best brush to use in styling your hair. It’s made with ionic and ceramic properties, which make it a durable and strong brush, that will enhance the use of a blow dryer. The ceramics help in retaining heat and in consistently and evenly distributing it over your entire head, which reduces the time you need to dry your hair. In addition, the ions in the bristles will repel water, which acts a bit like a hair conditioner, which smooths the cuticle of every strand of hair, and it will help lead to healthier, shinier hair.

Gorgeous Wedding Hairstyles For Long Hair :: Simple Reviews

Posted on October 6, 2015 in Long

If you have long hair, you are in luck! There are numerous great looking ways in which to wear your hair for your wedding day. To help you narrow down the options, check out these gorgeous wedding hairstyles for long hair.

The key with long hair is to select a style which will keep your tresses under control all day long. You also want to take your veil and bridal hair jewelry into consideration when meeting with your stylist for a hair trial. By pulling back at least the front of your hair, you will give your veil a secure place to anchor so that it does not simply slide down the back of your head as you glide down the aisle. The more elaborate your hairdo, the more options you will have for bridal hair jewelry, as you will be able to fasten any type of comb, hairpin, or headband somewhere into the hairstyle and know that it will not move around.

One of the top trends in wedding hair right now is asymmetry. This is in keeping with the current obsession with asymmetrical wedding gowns, such as the glamorous one shoulder style. Just like the one shoulder gown, the prettiest off-center bridal hairstyles are chic and elegant. It needs to be polished enough to show that the hair is intentionally left-of-center; a messy ‘do will just looked like you put it together in a hurry and misplaced your bun or twist!

Low twists are among the most fabulous asymmetrical wedding hairstyles for long hair this year. Have your hairstylist gather all of your hair near the nape of your neck. Let the pulled back part be smooth and tidy, which allows you to tease the twist part without getting that overall messy appearance. The gathered section of hair at the nape of the neck can either be arranged into a loose twisted bun or a more polished smooth spiral. Complete the effect with a glamorous feather headpiece or a cluster of Swarovski crystal hairpins.

A ponytail can serve as the basis for several other stylish hairdos for long hair. A high ponytail wrapped in a piece of your hair is a fetching style that can look surprisingly polished and elegant. Somehow, in the hands of a professional, a bridal ponytail will look nothing like the casual pony that you throw together at the gym. The key is backcombing the top of the hair before pulling it back and smoothing it out to get a little lift off of the crown of your head. Leave the pony as is, or have it worked into a chic chignon.

Soft curls can be created to make a romantic wedding hairstyles with long hair. Loosely pinned curls and waves are soft and feminine for an “undone” updo. Or pull back the front of your hair, and allow cascades of soft curls to flow down over your shoulders. One caution: this style can quickly turn into a frizzy mass on a humid day, so it is a bridal hairdo best reserved for indoor or cool weather weddings.

There are so many fantastic options for long wedding hair that you will be able to find the perfect one. The best bridal hairstyles complement the style of the gown, the texture of your hair, and the shape of your face. Work with your favorite hairstylist to design the hairdo which will make you feel absolutely beautiful and chic on your wedding day.

Do Men Prefer Long Hair on Women? – The Answer is Yes :: Simple Reviews

Posted on September 2, 2015 in Long

What length hair do men prefer?

The question has been asked, and they guys have answered. Here is what they have to say on whether they like long or short hair on a woman.

Recently a poll was done by researchers that concluded that men prefer women with long hair. This has been an age old question since the beginning of time. Do men prefer women with long hair, and why? Well we now have the answer to that question. Although this doesn’t reflect the opinion of every man, it represents the majority.

When you ask a man what length of hair he prefers on women, 9 times out of 10 he will say long. This question was asked on Yahoo Answers, and a few other sites on the web. And nearly all the men asked, responded yes, they prefer long hair on women. But also that it depended on the individual woman’s face shape and features. Not everything looks the good on everybody. Some women don’t look good in long hair, and some don’t look good in short.

In one poll done by the Daily Mail Reporter, researchers did a survey of 3,000 men, and 43% of the men polled preferred long hair. The celebrities that they thought were sexy: Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow and Rihanna. 80 percent of the men said they definitely notice if a woman changes her hair, while 18 percent said they rarely notice when a woman changes her hair. They also indicated that they like shiny, touchable hair without a lot of styling products. They like to run their fingers through it.

The results of a recent Poll:

Long and Wavy: 43% Long and straight: 13% Mid-length straight: 9% Mid-length wavy/curled: 3%

The second favorite styles:

Classic Bob: 10% Pixie Cropped: 7% Long Bob: 6%

Why do men prefer long hair on women?

All the men who answered yes to the question, said they prefer a woman to have long hair because it sexy. There’s just something about long flowing curly or wavy hair that they consider incredibly attractive. Like a reminiscence of the paintings of the Victorian era, women with long dresses and beautiful hair are very alluring. They equate long hair with being very feminine.

And guys love it when you use a certain type of shampoo, because on long hair it is more likely that they will be close enough to smell that scent. Some men like the smell of coconut, or other fruity scents in shampoo, or even ones that smell more like perfume. When your hair is down, they can nuzzle your neck and smell your hair at the same time. That’s harder to do with shorter hair.

Another reason men prefer long hair on women?

They like to touch it, feel it and play with it. And they like to pull it. Not like when we were in grade school and they pulled on our pigtails. But grown up play definitely includes a little hair tugging. Or grabbing a handful while pulling you in for a passionate kiss. Men love long hair on women, it’s just a fact!

And wearing your hair pulled up into a loose bun with a little hair out at the nape of the neck, is incredibly sexy. There are parts of a woman’s body that men love; namely the back of the neck, the top of the shoulders, the hollow of your throat, the small of your back and the swell of the breasts. They love it when your hair is down and covering these parts. Like a gift waiting to be unwrapped.

A woman’s hair is considered her “crowning glory” according to the bible. This is not to suggest that you shouldn’t wear your hair short, but meaning that this is a woman’s most alluring feature. Just as important as a pretty face, nice hair complements you as well. Whether it be long or short, you should wear it in a stylish and flattering manner. Some women have features that go along with short pixie styles, and other women look better with it long. It’s really a matter of what looks good on the individual. Always go with what looks good on you, not what any body else says you should do. Ultimately looking your very best should be what’s important anyway!
